I Called on the Name of the Lord and Received Him

I am 40 years old in 2000. I was born again nearly 21 years ago, at the age of nineteen. At that time I was working in a tyre retreading factory in Palmerston North. There was one person there who used to talk to me about the Bible and God very often. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to him. I had never read the Bible and was not familiar with its contents. Most of this person’s speaking was about the book of Revelation on things that are going to take place in the end times. One day he spoke from Revelation chapter nine. I remember very clearly thinking that if there is a God and if this was written in the Bible then it would happen.

It was at that time that I asked him for a Bible. I wanted to read it myself to see what he was talking about. After receiving a Bible from him I took it home and hid it under my mattress. I didn’t want anyone, especially my family, to know that I was reading a Bible. After I had read for myself about the things he had been telling me, he asked me if I would like to go for a meeting. I didn’t know why I agreed, but I did. After I arrived at the meeting, it was not as I had expected it to be. We were at a large hall with a small group of people all in a circle singing songs and talking about the Lord. After that meeting I came back once, twice, and sometimes three times a week. After about two weeks of this I was helped to call on the name of the Lord and receive Him as my Saviour.

I have been meeting in the Lord’s recovery ever since and enjoy the focus of His economy which is Christ and the church.
